- Thin rectangular plate a × b × t, loaded edges of width b.
- Material
- Linear-elastic isotropic material, E and ν.
- Boundary conditions
- Uniform in-plane compression; simply supported on all four edges (SSSS).
- Measured quantity
- σcr = k·π²E/[12(1−ν²)]·(t/b)²; k = 4.0 for a long SSSS plate.
