Problem statement

Geometry
Thin rectangular plate a × b × h, thin-plate regime.
Material
Linear-elastic isotropic material, E and ν = 0.3; D = Eh³/[12(1−ν²)].
Boundary conditions
Simply supported on all four edges; uniform pressure q.
Measured quantity
Central deflection w = α·q·b⁴/D (b — short side), α from the a/b ratio (Navier series).
