- Straight fin of length L and uniform cross-section (perimeter P, area A_c).
- Material
- Isotropic thermal conductivity k; convection coefficient h on the lateral surface.
- Boundary conditions
- Fixed base temperature T_b; insulated (adiabatic) tip; ambient T∞.
- Measured quantity
- Temperature profile cosh[m(L−x)]/cosh(mL) and heat rate Q = √(hPkA_c)·θ_b·tanh(mL).
