4-Cylinder Inline Engine Cutaway (16-Body Master Assembly)

Multi-body 4-stroke inline-4 internal combustion engine with longitudinal cylinder block cutaway exposing forged crankshaft, 4 connecting rods, pistons with wrist pins, DOHC camshafts, 8 valves, timing drive, and flywheel.

This 16-body master assembly models a complete 4-cylinder inline engine with a cutaway cylinder block and oil pan so engineers can inspect every internal moving component. Pistons 1 & 4 sit at Top Dead Center (TDC) while Pistons 2 & 3 sit at Bottom Dead Center (BDC), with relief pockets machined into piston skirts and cylinder bores to guarantee zero solid interference throughout the stroke.

1. Geometry & FEA Mesh

  • •16 independent B-Rep solid bodies in extraBodies: cast iron block, aluminum oil pan, cylinder head, valve cover, forged crankshaft, 4 pistons with pins, 4 H-beam connecting rods, 2 camshafts, 8 valves, timing belt drive, and flywheel.
  • •Materials: gray cast iron СЧ25 (block), forged steel 40CrNi2MoA (crankshaft & conrods), Al-Si piston alloy АК12М2МгН (pistons), and EPDM elastomer (timing belt).
  • •Zero CAD Collisions Gate verified: 0.000 mm³ pairwise overlap across all 16 components.

2. Loads & Boundary Conditions

  • •Full kinematic clearance in main journals, crankpins, wrist pin bores, and cylinder liners.
  • •Ready for one-click inspection, hiding/isolating subassemblies, or setting up thermal-structural FEA on individual components.

3. Simulation Results & Findings

  • ✓16 distinct bodies loaded in under 2 seconds in the browser via compressed .wce binary bundle.
  • ✓Complete STEP package with individual parts/*.step files available for CAD/CAE workflows.
