Problem statement
- Geometry
- Prismatic beam with a low span/height ratio, where the shear contribution to deflection is significant.
- Material
- Linear-elastic isotropic material, E and ν (shear modulus G = E/[2(1+ν)]).
- Boundary conditions
- Fully fixed at one end; a transverse tip load.
- Measured quantity
- Tip deflection against the Timoshenko solution (Euler-Bernoulli term plus the shear correction).
