Problem statement

Geometry
Elliptical plate with an elliptical hole: outer semi-axes ≈ 3.25 and 2.75 m, hole semi-axes ≈ 2 and 1 m, thickness 0.1 m — per the standard NAFEMS LE1 setup.
Material
E = 210 GPa, ν = 0.3.
Boundary conditions
Uniform tensile pressure of 1 MPa on one outer edge; symmetry about both axes.
Measured quantity
Tangential stress σyy at point D, on the hole boundary along the minor axis.
