Problem statement

Geometry
Run elastic/hyperelastic 0->A->0 and J2 0->eps_max->unload paths with deliberate failed trial steps inserted.
Material
Constitutive or analytical definition: Converged history updates are committed; rejected Newton trials are not.
Boundary conditions
Required solver capability: state_commit_rollback. Use the loading/path control stated in the setup and preserve the complete response history.
Measured quantity
Elastic/hyperelastic state returns to zero energy and stress; J2 state matches the exact residual strain; failed trial steps leave no history mutation.
