Uniaxial tension (steel)
StaticPASS · <0.01%Stress recovery (von Mises, principal stresses) for a prismatic steel bar under uniform axial tension, checked away from the fixed-end boundary layer.
- Tolerance:
- 5%
Problem statement
- Geometry
- Prismatic bar, 6.0 × 1.0 × 1.0 m.
- Material
- Steel: E = 200 GPa, ν = 0.3.
- Boundary conditions
- Fully fixed (all 3 DOF) on the x=0 face; uniform axial traction of +1 MPa on the x=6 face; lateral faces free.
- Measured quantity
- Von Mises and principal stresses averaged over the x=3 m cross-section (mid-span, away from the fixed-end boundary layer). Reported result is von Mises; principal max/min were checked in the same run (see script) and matched target 1 MPa / 0 respectively.
